It has taken some time, and in a way, too slow.
A past I have needed to shed finally let go
I thought myself dead, but you laid claim on my heart
And slowly I gave it to you, it was but a start.
I gave you a cold thing, dormant too long
And you breathed life into it with care and a joyful song.

I've finally gained the strength to herald in a new dawn
With joy in my poor heart I'm no longer a pawn
To emotions too dark to care whether I live or love
Hate or die, but it seems all I needed was a shove
In your direction and once there I realised how
It was that time, and that time was now.
